WHAT THE TEACHERS EXPERIENCED

Jo Heppinstall

As a generalist teacher with no previous experience of using ICT in the music classroom, Jo feels that she has benefited enormously from working with the team. In school one of her colleagues was also in the music team and they saw this as important for what they achieved and how they felt about approaching the subject designs. Jo also enjoyed the opportunity to work with secondary teachers.

"Meeting together as a Music team was good...and listening to the secondary people, because you don't get that involved in the secondary school unless you know somebody...it was very ibteresting to hear Andrew's (another primary teacher) ideas and what was happening in his classroom. The meetings at the university were useful...it was nice that you didn't feel so isolated."

Some of the video data from Jo's work is included in one of the Tools for Transforming Learning.

Becca Ball

Becca had not used ICT with Key Stage 3 music before she joined the project. While technical hitches caused many problems within her Year 8 subject design she felt very positive about the work.

"At another in-service course training the other day [I realised] through doing this project, I'm actually 'ahead' of some of the other schools around. I found I was one of the most confident people on the course. [Since working on the project] I have worked more on templates...and it's made me think how I can use them throughout ...even as early as Year 7."
