SEN PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

This was an area of the InterActive project where the lead was taken by a doctoral student.

Fern Faux combined working on the project with research in connection with her PhD, having been awarded an ESRC studentship. Fern is an experienced teacher. She collaborated with other subject teams, in particular the English Subject Design Team. In whole team discussions and analysis sessions she reminded us constantly of the SEN dimension of the work. Fern also worked closely with the teachers in the Special Unit at Filton High School.

As with all the teaching and learning teams everyone involved experienced professional development.

Fern was awarded her doctorate in 2004. She is currently researching the use of hand-held technologies in schools.
